Developers and web designers who want decent printouts of their XML documents need XSL-FO. More formally known as Extensible Style Language-Formatting Objects, XSL-FO provides a set of tools for describing paged printouts, unlike the (currently ordinary) conversions of XML documents to HTML. And although XSL-FO was designed for print production, it's broadly useful for a variety of XML-to-paper (or PDF) applications. XSL-FO offers in- depth coverage of XSL-FO's features. Unlike documentation from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) - the other primary source - all the material in XSL-FO is presented in a single coherent flow, without references to and changes of the Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) specification.
